Hi, I’m Natalie!

I help new parents go from anxious and fearful to feeling connected and confident in their early parenting.

I’m the Owner and Clinical Director of Safe Haven Trauma Services.

I opened Safe Haven Trauma Services to provide a safe haven for those who were highly traumatized by the very people that were meant to love and protect them. Parents and other caregivers are the ones with the most power to cause significant harm. As I became a mama myself, I have become more and more passionate about supportive and preventative services through working with parents. As a trauma therapist, I am intimately aware of the severe damage that can be done to children who then grow up to be very wounded adults. Safe Haven was designed and created to be a safe place for children, teens, adults, and families who have been wounded and need a safe place to heal. A place where they can be themselves, grow and thrive.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health Services Provider and I hold a certificate in Somatic Embodiment and an Advanced Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.

I do my best work with new parents (including those who are pregnant) who want to break cycles of relational wounding to establish healthy bonds with their children and feel confident and grounded in their parenting choices. Many of my clients experienced deep relational wounding from their own caregivers and are highly motivated to be a different kind of parent for their children. They may feel anxious, fearful, and lack confidence about their parenting approach.

My approach is heavily influenced by the work of Kelly McDaniel, who writes on the topic of Mother Hunger®. Mother Hunger describes a deep attachment wound involving lack of nurturance, protection, or guidance from your mother. Healing from Mother Hunger and other forms of attachment hunger open us up for healthy bonding and attachment with our children.

I have completed extensive training to address trauma and attachment issues, including: Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Comprehensive Resource Model (including Case Conceptualization for DID and OSDD), Clinical Hypnosis, Ego State Therapy, Safe and Sound Protocol, and Onsite’s Trauma State Processing. More recently I have become trained in Pregnancy Dialogues, a non-clinical approach to facilitate bonding and attachment with your baby before birth.

I am currently training with Kelly McDaniel to become a Mother Hunger approved group facilitator and with Wendy Lemke to be certified in Ego State Therapy.

I have seen individuals undergo incredible healing and become rockstar parents! I help clients to process their wounds from the past, learn about healthy attachment and bonding, and grow to trust their natural instincts by being sensitive and responsive to their children’s needs. I provide a relational approach for clients who feel anxious, overwhelmed, and driven by their past relational wounds. It is my belief that we need relational safety before delving into deep trauma and/or attachment wounding. I provide skill building to calm you in your most stressful moments. I teach you about the research on healthy attachment and bonding and help you to trust your own inner knowing. My goal is to help you to trust yourself and feel confident in your parenting choices to grow up healthy, well-adjusted children that trust you to provide the exact nurturance, protection, and guidance that they need.

I consider this work my passion and calling. In my free time you can find me soaking in all the snuggles with my son and spending time as a family. I’m an avid reader and enjoy nerding out, reading all things on trauma, attachment, and parenting. Yes, I do this in my free time! I also enjoy photography, traveling, hiking, and being outside.

*Natalie also does a limited amount of intensives with a specific focus. She is especially passionate about healing Mother Hunger and other forms of attachment wounding.

**Natalie has worked extensively with DID and severe attachment wounding, but is not currently accepting clients who need long-term, consistent therapy (meaning years) due to being in a family building phase of life. However, she provides training and consultation to other providers if you would like recommendations.
