Postpartum Counseling
Okay, baby is here! Now what?? Do you feel sleep deprived, overwhelmed, and inundated with advice from any and everyone? Do you find yourself wanting to trust your instincts, but fearing judgment from those around you? Do you want the best for your baby, but feel scared and overwhelmed with the new task of raising an actual human?
The early days, months, and years are a crucial part of your child’s development. Early attachment and bonding form an imprint for how your child will experience themself, others, and the world. Whether or not they will feel trust in themselves, feel trust toward others, and feel safe in the world. Parenting for secure attachment can help your child to excel in a variety of areas: socially, academically, in extra curriculars. Secure attachment helps children to grow up to be loving, trusting, and independent adults.
At Safe Haven TS, we have worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults with moderate to severe attachment wounding. We truly understand what a child needs to grow and thrive. Some of what attachment research tells us is not widely known by the general public OR our OB’s, pediatricians, and other medical providers. They may tell you things that contradict attachment research, yet they know nothing of it. Doctors are medical providers, not developmental experts.
At Safe Haven TS, we provide support around parenting that is grounded in attachment research. We can help provide you with education on what that research says, assist with learning tools to regulate your own emotions so you can co-regulate your baby, and help you to work through blocks that keep you from trusting your own inner knowing.
There’s a lot of judgment about parenting out there and everyone has an opinion. Coming to trust your own intuition to provide sensitive attuned caregiving is the best way to establish healthy attachment to set your child up for a lifetime of success and happiness.
