Support

Growth

Counseling trauma survivors is tough, but you don’t have to go it alone!

Did you know that working with trauma has a high burn-out rate? At Safe Haven Trauma Services, we seek to create a safe community of therapists that provide the support and growth you need to achieve your dreams of being a strong and effective trauma therapist without burning out.

What We Are Looking For

Your values align with ours:

·      Creativity: You think outside the box! You don’t stick to manualized treatment. You know how to creatively adapt treatment to fit each client’s unique needs, while being aware of evidence-based practices.

·      Connection: You value connection both with clients and colleagues. We are seeking to create a team of like-minded providers who can feel like a family! Trauma survivors don’t heal in isolation. It is through genuine connection and acceptance that individuals can begin to heal.

·      Curiosity: You see yourself as a life-long learner. You love trainings and can’t wait to join our trauma trainings, even if they aren’t required! You look at client symptoms through a lens of curiosity rather than judgment or pathology.

·      Collaboration: You don’t see yourself as an expert on your clients’ lives, but as someone walking alongside them on their healing journey. You value a team approach to treatment and are willing to hear constructive feedback or new ideas of how to work with clients. You want to be part of our weekly consultation groups, even if they aren’t required.

·      Compassion: clients with trauma can have some really challenging symptoms. Many of our clients can display difficult behaviors from time to time. You have patience and compassion to hold space through the ups and downs, while still standing strong. Our clients need us to be strong and steady as they process intense emotions and memories.

·      Inclusivity: You can put your differences aside when working with people who are different than you. You can be accepting and non-judgmental of clients and colleagues. You believe in equality for all and value diversity and understanding each individual’s unique background.

We are looking for a candidate that is consistent and reliable. You know how to follow through. You act from a place of integrity. You are passionate about helping others to heal. You’re willing to talk about your own issues that come up as you work with clients in a group setting. You’re excited to be at meetings that involve talking about the care we are providing at Safe Haven Trauma Services. You are motivated and a self-starter. You will take initiative in offering up your unique talents in a way that benefits our team. We are not micromanagers and don’t do a lot of hand holding. We expect you to do your job and to do it well, without having to follow your tracks to make sure you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing. You have an open and curious mind. You love learning and can’t wait to be part of our team. You’re a good writer and are excited to write blog posts or a stellar bio for our website. You are willing to go outside of your comfort zone and be on video for marketing purposes.

We are looking for people who are excited to be at work. We are looking for team members who strive to better themselves personally and professionally every day. We are hoping that you are open to exploring your own biases because we ALL have them! We are seeking positive attitudes. Any drama, negativity, or discrimination will not be tolerated. We look to have fun, challenge each other, and grow individually and collectively. We are looking to provide safety and hope to each other, our clients, and our community. We strongly believe if someone wants to heal and is willing to put in the effort, that healing is possible no matter what your circumstances!

We are a practice that is seeking to change the world, by helping one client at a time to heal from trauma. Together with our clients, we can stop the intergenerational transmission of trauma from one generation to the next. We are always learning, growing, and expanding, and we expect the same from you!

The Honest Truth

All jobs have aspects that you don’t like. We may ask you to do things that aren’t your favorite things to do, such as completing notes within 24 hours of session, reaching out to referral sources, collaborating with other treatment providers, or marketing. This helps the community to understand that we care and that we’re providing the highest quality services.

We are not the right place for everybody, but we are confident that if you’re a good fit then you will quickly feel safe and at home with us! We will welcome you with open arms into our family of providers.

Be a Part of Our Team!

We want people who are excited to work with trauma survivors and feel called to this work. Even though we work with some pretty heavy, dark stuff, our environment is fun, and we incorporate humor and laughter into our work culture!

We work with dissociation, so if you’re looking to fit in with everyone in the mental health community, you may want to look elsewhere. We offer services that others don’t and specialize in dissociative disorders. We don’t expect you to come in trained to treat dissociative disorders, but we do expect you to believe in DID and be willing to learn about how to treat it. We have high standards for our team, but we also love each and every one of our team members.

We hope to set the standard for working with complex trauma and dissociative disorders in our community!

Pay

We’ll be honest here, the pay may not be as good as in solo private practice. However, we seek to pay our therapists well and offer an above average pay. We offer a ton of support, while you mostly get to work with clients.

What we provide:

  • We provide a great deal of high-quality training

  • We provide a training program in your first 90 days, but also weekly support

  • We help you to be a go-to referral source for complex trauma and dissociative disorders in our community through social media and marketing

  • We fill your caseload

  • We provide a team environment that feels like family

If you are looking to do the bare minimum and be paid like you’re in solo private practice, we are probably not the place for you.

Why You Might Not Like Working with Us

  • We expect you to have a positive attitude about being at work and toward your clients

  • We hope for people to attend all consultations and trainings, even if they aren’t required

  • We expect you to keep the commitment of your time to clients. Cancelling and rescheduling because you need to run some errands or don’t feel like being at work is not acceptable

  • We expect documentation to be done well and in a timely manner

  • We have high standards and seek to provide the highest quality care

Why You’ll Love Working with Us

  • You get a TON of support and professional development opportunities through weekly consultation and trauma training

  • We love, respect, and value every member of our team. We want you to bring your unique strengths and talents to the table, while letting others handle the things that aren’t your strengths and talents

  • We love creativity and innovation. New ideas are welcomed and embraced! If you have a great idea or vision, we want to help you bring it to fruition

  • You have top notch administrative support from our office who takes care of scheduling, billing, most marketing, screening clients, etc. This leaves you with more time to care for your clients
